It’s been almost 6 months since my last post and in that time I’ve finished my dissertation, been working on some publications, and returned to Cambodia to do some fieldwork. I’m hoping to have some new posts about exciting developments in Cambodian archaeology and my own work over the next few weeks. However, in the meantime I also want to point out that the cultural heritage Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Cambodia and the United States is up for renewal, and you can make comments to the Cultural Property Advisory Committee regarding the re-signing and strengthening of this MOU.
Several archaeologists and scholars have already posted comments in support of the MOU and you can read them and make your own comments here.
Welcome back Dr, Carter! Can’t wait for your updates! If you wouldn’t mind, could you also share them with the SAFE Cambodian MoU renewal Cause page that I am helping to administer in advance of the hearings? Having first hand accounts from an archaeologist on the ground there about what’s going on and why it matters would be awesome. Of course, you have every right to refuse, too 🙂
